ATTENTION ALL TUBA AND EUPHONIUM PLAYERS

You are again invited to participate in one or more of the TUBACHRISTMAS concerts/events presented throughout the world. TUBACHRISTMAS was conceived in 1974 as a tribute to the late artist/teacher William J. Bell, born on Christmas Day, 1902. Through the legendary William J. Bell we reflect on our heritage and honor all great artists/teachers whose legacy has given us high performance standards, well structured pedagogy, professional integrity, personal values and a camaraderie envied by all other instrumentalists.
The first TUBACHRISTMAS was conducted by the late Paul Lavalle in New York City's Rockefeller Plaza Ice Rink on Sunday, December 22, 1974. Traditional Christmas music performed at the first TUBACHRISTMAS was arranged by American composer Alec Wilder who ironically died on Christmas Eve, 1980. Wilder composed many solo and ensemble compositions for tuba and euphonium. He was a loyal supporter of every effort to improve the literature and public image of our chosen instruments. Through Alec Wilder we express our respect and gratitude to all composers who continue to embrace our instruments with their compositions and contribute to the ever growing solo and ensemble repertoire for tuba and euphonium.
Help achieve maximum participation for your area's TUBACHRISTMAS concert. Your efforts will be appreciated by tuba and euphonium players everywhere.

REGISTRATION:

Pre-registration is recommended to speed up the registration process. Since we typically have many walk-ins, the line can tend to be long. REGISTRATION REQUIRES A TAX-DEDUCTIBLE CONTRIBUTION OF $10.00 (registration fee). Registration fees help cover increasing production, promotion, and administrative costs for TUBACHRISTMAS.

A very limited supply of stocking caps ($20) and scarves ($25) will be available at registration while supplies last.

MUSIC:

CAROLS FOR A MERRY TUBACHRISTMAS is available at registration for $20.00, (bass clef-C, four part score form) & (treble clef-Bb, two upper parts). Large version 8 1/2 x 11 bass or treble $25.00 (limited stock). Music contains 33 selections, including numbers arranged by Norlan Bewley to enhance the original nineteen traditional Christmas carols arranged by Alec Wilder.

Everyone must have an original copy of Carols for a TubaChristmas Vol. II. Sharing music is very cumbersome and photo copies will not be allowed as this is a violation of copyright and our agreement with The Harvey Phillips Foundation.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO HAVE A GOOD SOUNDING CHOIR. Since rehearsal time is always limited, getting and preparing the music in advance greatly improves the musicality of every performance. If you would like the music in advance, stop in at Popplers Music in Sioux Falls. We should have the music available a couple of weeks ahead of the event.

Lunch will be available at the Augustana Commons for $15.

NO ILLEGAL PHOTOCOPIES WILL BE ALLOWED!
